Bill & Kathi Sergenian have their priorities in order; community first...the business will follow! Like many new franchisees, the Sergenians had their reservations about opening their own restaurant, but persevered through the process and are now reaping the rewards of business ownership!
Bill & Kathi took an active owner role once they decided to franchise with Erbert & Gerbert's Sandwich Shop. It began with selecting a location. Bill, along with E&G real estate consulting, delved into conducting traffic counts, looking for easily accessible sites, and most importantly, considering what type of service and products their community needed.
A centrally located site near several major highways and streets, ended up being the perfect location for the couple. With many pizza and fast food brands in that area, a sandwich concept such as E&G was a much needed retail option. Bill & Kathi began renovations on the building including the construction of a community-use room and drive-thru; two amenities deemed neccessary for this particular market.
The Sergenians had researched franchising with E&G for roughly a year, but once they signed their agreement, getting to the Grand Opening was a quick and easy process. In addition to the real estate support provided early on, E&G Corporate Staff offered training, marketing, construction, and opening support every step of the way.
Opening the doors is only part of the process, though. Getting customers to visit is the next challenge. E&G's marketing department devised a bang-up strategy to advertsie including grass-roots marketing, spcial media initiatives, and food give-a-ways to ensure Bill & Kathi had a successful grand opening. With sales figures approaching the same as shops that have been open for years, we would say Sun Prairie is off to a fantastic start!
