Erbert & Gerbert are no strangers to time travel, so they weren’t surprised to find themselves in the Old Wild West. What did surprise them, however, is when a bison, named Erupter approached them in the streets of Tombstone to ask a question. “Excuse me, fellas,” said Erupter. “I wonder if you can tell me why folks in your time call chicken sandwiches ‘Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches.’ Is it buffalo? Or is it chicken?” The boys didn’t know, so they told the friendly bison they’d race back to the present and find the answer. Turns out the name comes from the city of Buffalo, NY, where the tasty hot sauce was first mastered. Catching a ride on Halleys Comet back to the Old Wild West, the boys were happy to find their bison friend right where they left him, and even happier to explain to him that Buffalo chicken is really just chicken with hot sauce. Erupter laughed when he heard this and said, “Well, maybe you boys should make a Buffalo chicken sandwich and name it after me!” And that’s just what Erbert & Gerbert did, concocting a tasty blend of chicken, kickin’ hot sauce, and tasty cool blue cheese. They even brought one back to the Old Wild West for Erupter, and he said he’d never had a better sandwich (or heard of one with a better name!).
